As a visible customer for about two years now, I thought I would share my experience with the world! If you’re looking for an affordable monthly phone plan with unlimited data, this post is for you.
My husband and I have both been using Visible as our phone provider for two-ish years now. We’ve both been very pleased with the Visible plan and feel like we’ve saved a ton of money!
Why Visible Is So Great for One or Two Lines of Service
With most main carriers like Verizon, you’re going to pay a hefty price for just one or two lines. If you have a large family with multiple lines, the cost per line becomes a bit more reasonable, but for a single line, it’s ridiculously expensive!
Visible on the other hand, is designed with individuals in mind. The plan prices are significantly lower, making it an ideal choice for those who don’t need multiple lines.
For instance, in my area, the lowest plan for an individual line on Verizon is about $75 per month. Compare that to Visible’s $25 per month, and the savings are substantial!
With Visible, you get all the essentials you need without the extra frills that drive up the extra cost with other carriers. You still benefit from the reliability of Verizon’s network since Visible operates on the same network, but at a fraction of the price. This makes it a no brainer for individuals or couples looking for a straightforward, cost effective mobile plan.
The savings alone make Visible an excellent option, but the ease of use and flexibility really seal the deal.
What Is Visible Mobile?
Visible Mobile is a wireless service provider that operates entirely online, which is a key factor in keeping the costs so low. Unlike traditional carriers, Visible doesn’t have any physical storefronts or retail locations, which means they can pass those savings directly to their customers.
What makes Visible even more appealing to me is that it uses Verizon’s towers. So, you’re literally getting the exact same reliable coverage and network quality that you would get if you were with Verizon, but without the hefty price tag.
Since everything with Visible is handled online, from signing up to managing your account, it’s incredibly convenient for those who don’t mind doing things online.
This makes Visible an excellent option for those who want reliable coverage at a much more affordable price.
My Experience with Visible
My experience with Visible has been great! Since setting it up almost two years ago, I really haven’t given it much thought which is exactly what you want. Our bill is set to auto pay so we truly don’t have to give our relationship with Visible a single thought each month.
The visible app is handy for logging in though to check your phone bill statements, see what deals they have on new phones, etc.
I’ve never had an issue with cell service, getting data, text messages, or my phone working. I honestly can not tell one bit a difference with how my phone works/data speeds vs when I was with Verizon. Plus, I’m paying WAY less.
Is Visible Mobile Really Unlimited Data?
Yes! Visible offers two plans, both of which are unlimited data plans with high-speed data. I also love that there is not five billion options. Literally just two choices of visible’s plans which makes it was less overwhelming. The “premium” option (visible plus) included service for your apple watch and international service, which to me would be the biggest difference. I just have the basic plan.
BOTH plans come with unlimited data. In fact, here is a blurb from the plans section on visible’s website “Unlimited data, unlimited talk & text on Verizon’s 5G & 4G LTE networks.” See, you’ll get as much data as you need!
PLUS you get unlimited unlimited hotspot data. This is nice for me who works at home, so if the wifi goes out I’m not left high and dry without internet. I can use my hotspot to still work on my laptop.
How Does Visible Differ From Verizon?
There are quite a few differences, which may determine if you want to switch to Visible (whether with Verizon or not). The thing to note is that you get the EXACT same 5 g networks coverage so if you care mostly about whether or not your phone will still get good phone service, work fast, etc. it will be exactly like what Verizon customers receive since they use the same network/towers.
The BIG difference is just how much “help” you need from customer service representatives and if you like being able to walk in person into a store.
So, Visible operates entirely online with no physical stores or retail locations. This online only approach allows Visible to significantly reduce operating costs because they obviously don’t have to pay for a building, employees, etc. This translates into much lower prices for customers.
Verizon offers a wide range of more expensive plans but has various perks tailored for larger families or businesses. If had 4+ people in my family or a business, I might would do a comparison because it might come out pretty closely. I still think you’ll come out cheaper with Visible, but it won’t be quite as bit of a difference.
Another difference is obviously the level of customer service and support with Verizon you’ll have available. Verizon, with its brick and mortar physical stores, offers in person assistance, which can be convenient for those who prefer face-to-face interactions or need immediate help with their devices.
Visible, however, handles all customer service through its app, website, or social media channels. This online support model is efficient and effective but might not offer the same personalized experience as visiting a Verizon store. To me, I could care less about visiting a store in person and will suffer through the use of an online live chat box if needed if it means I’m going to save tons of money each month.
Essentially, Visible offers the same great network coverage as Verizon but with a stripped down, digital only service that’s geared toward budget conscious users who are comfortable managing their mobile service online.
If you really value having someone in person to help you set things up, Verizon is the way to go.
How Hard Is It To Switch from Verizon To Visible?
Not hard at all! My husband and myself both switched ourselves from Verizon to Visible about two years ago. It was incredibly easy.
I would recommend visiting this tab on their website for a run down of how it will work.
Basically, you will login to your Verizon account and get a code to allow your old number to transfer over to Visible. You can start from scratch with a new number if you prefer, but I’m guessing most people want to keep their old numbers like we did.
There are a couple options next, but I selected for Visible to just send me a physical sim card. Once it arrived, I inserted it into my phone and followed the prompts to switch over my service provider. If I recall, it literally only took a couple of minutes.
Once you see you’re on the Visible network you can cancel your phone line with Verizon.
Can I Keep My Phone Number If I Switch To Visible?
Absolutely! There is plenty of instructions on the Visible website on how to do this. My husband and I both kept our old numbers and it was so easy to move things over to visible’s services.
We both also kept our own phones that we’d been using for awhile. You can purchase a new phone though if you want.
How Do You Speak to Someone at Visible for Help?
If you need to speak to a Visible rep, unfortunately there is no phone number to call. This is the price you are paying for having such a low bill. If they had techs ready to take phone calls, that’s just more expense they’d have to pass on to the Visible customers.
There is however an online chat box you can use and you are talking to a real person. Truthfully, we haven’t had any issues really in the past two years so we’d had no reason to use it. My husband did have one question about his phone once, so he used the general help feature to ask that. But otherwise, hopefully you really shouldn’t need anything!
The Pros to Using Visible
They run deals ALL the time. When my husband and I first signed up, we locked in $15/month plans for the first six months. Now we both pay $25 each, but I’m still super pleased with that pricing.
At the time I wrote this post, they were offering a $20/month deal for the first TWO YEARS. This would be one awesome price! Currently, they may have some other deal going on or nothing at all. But I’d bet if not another one is coming soon for new customers.
Take advantage of those deals and experience the savings for yourself.
The main pro to Visible is that it uses Verizon’s network (so you know you’ve got a good, strong network) but is super duper cheap. No one wants to be paying an arm and a leg for their cell phone.
The Cons to Using Visible
The only cons to using Visible is that if for some reason you need help, you’ll have to use their chat support box to communicate with them. You can’t go visit a store or call them up. After the long COVID fiasco, I think we’re all pretty used to doing things online though anyways.
However, you really shouldn’t need help too often and hopefully never. So, I’d rather take my chance then pay a premium each month just to be able to walk into a store when more than likely I won’t need to anyways.
Conclusion
If you’re thinking about switching to Visible service, I highly recommend it. Especially if you are a single or couple with only a few (or one) cell lines, you’ll probably save a ton of money by making the switch.
If you want to look at comparable options, I’ve also heard good things about Mint Mobile and US mobile and feel like they would be another phone carrier to look into if you are doing some research on ways to save money on your phone bill.
If you aren’t attached to being able to walk into a physical storefront and talk to a cell phone agent, then Visible is definitely worth looking into.
