1. H & M
H&M is my go to for budget-friendly jeans! It’s actually my top pick for great jeans. Believe it or not, two of my all time favorite jeans in my own closet are from H&M. They are both in a straight leg style. I love them even more than my Everlane or Madewell jeans which were… quite a bit pricier.
I decided to give them a try on a whim in the store and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved them. Initially, I really wanted to try them on because the quality of the jeans felt so high end and when I looked down at the price tag and saw they were under $30, I couldn’t believe it!
Then I tried them on and was so pleasantly pleased. The high rise fit was spot on. I’ve found they run true to size across many different styles which is something you don’t always find. This makes me more comfortable shopping online with them. I tried on a few different pair in store and can say my true size was the exact right fit for each pair. I REALLY couldn’t believe that. Because we all know how jean sizing can differ. Plus, they have withheld the test of time beautifully.
H&M jeans are a perfect example of a great fit without the hefty price tag! I’m going to link up some of my favorite wide-leg jeans below in different size options that are all UNDER $30!! (price subject to change)

2. Old Navy
Old Navy is another great place to find denim! Although I’ve found, it can be hit or miss at times. I’ve noticed that the sizing can be a bit inconsistent, but the easy returns make up for it.
If you have a store nearby, ordering online and returning in store is a great way to avoid return shipping fees.
One thing to keep in mind is that the listed prices might seem a bit steep, but Old Navy frequently offers sitewide discounts ranging from 25-40%.
Waiting for one of these sales can get you a great pair of jeans for under $30-40! I’ll link up a few of my favorite pairs for a classic look they currently have listed so you can see for yourself how cute they are.
3. Amazon
Of course, we have to include Amazon on this list! While Amazon mainly sells jeans from a bunch of other brands, they also have their own line called Amazon Essentials.
This means the price range can really vary depending on what you’re looking at. For me, jeans that are under $40 hit the sweet spot for affordability. I’ve found a few pairs over the years that have been real standouts. I believe one of the pairs I’ve found on Amazon that I still own is actually by the brand Gap.
One of the best things about shopping for jeans on Amazon is how easy they make returns. You can order a bunch of pairs, try them on at home, and then send back the ones that don’t work for you. It’s pretty much a no risk way to shop for denim.
4. Nordstrom Rack
Have you ever heard of Nordstrom Rack? It’s basically the discount store for Nordstrom. There are very few in-person locations out there but I’m lucky enough that I do live within an hours drive of one.
However, the online selection is great. The only thing is returns may be difficult if you don’t live near a store because you’ll have to pay for a return shipping fee. So, it’s best to try and shop from brands you feel pretty confident in the sizing.
You can find Madewell, Free People, Kenzie, Levi’s, and so many other brands on this site. The savings are normally pretty great on their pairs of jeans.
5. Target
Target jeans are great. Do I think they are as good a quality as H&M (although they are pretty much the same price)? No. They also don’t compare to the Loft or something like Madewell. However, they are great for when you want something trendy you might just wear one or two seasons.
The price is so good at Target that it’s hard to say no. Plus, the affordable jeans are always made with in style cuts and look super cute. I’m loving straight-leg jeans that rise all the way up to the belly button currently!
6. Loft Clearance
Loft is another great spot you can look for denim that you may not have considered! Now, we’re talking strictly the Loft clearance section here. No way we paying full price!
However, I have bought and own several pair of Loft denim over the years. They quality is awesome and when you find a pair on sale for around $30, you better scoop it up quick. They are for sure the most comfortable jeans for pretty much any body shape.
7. TJ Maxx/Marshalls
TJ Maxx and Marshalls are fantastic spots to score affordable denim. Plus they have both in store and online options. They carry a wide range of brands kind of like Nordstrom Rack.
Shopping in store can be a treasure hunt. You never know what gems you’ll find on the racks! I once found a pair of Abercrombie denim for just $12 at my local Marshalls. I was so pumped.
If you prefer the convenience of online shopping their websites offer a great selection, too. I’ve seen some super high end brands listed online so it’s worth checking out every so often for the perfect pair of jeans.
8. ThredUp
Oh my, my love for ThredUp runs deep. I am an avid shopper of this site! You do need to know what size you are in whatever brand you are buying, because returns are hardly ever worth it. You’ll end up spending as much in shipping as you’d be getting back in a refund.
I found a pair of Everlane jeans on ThredUp once and snagged those puppies right up. Just learn how to read the sizing chart ThredUp provides you. Look for the inseam length, waist dimensions in inches, etc. If you like high-waisted jeans, be sure and look for a taller fit.
ThredUp has literally SO many sizes for all different body types and you can filter by size to make it easy.
9. Shop the Mint Clearance
Have you ever shopped this adorable boutique before? I don’t frequently shop here, but over the years I have placed a couple of orders. Once I ordered a pair of jeans and was so pleasantly surprised.
When searched through the jeans section just filter the search results to show you prices low to high. That way, the cheapest jeans show up first. When you reach the top of your budget, you can stop scrolling.
Conclusion
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different brands and styles until you find your perfect fit. Whether it’s wide legs, different inseam lengths, low-rise jeans, a high-rise waist, or flare jeans that are your preferred style, these places are the best for a flattering fit! And with easy return policies at most of these stores, you can shop with confidence. Don’t leave it only to the fashion experts to look great in their everyday jeans.
Know you can almost always send back what doesn’t work! If you need a different size jeans don’t be afraid to keep looking until you find a pair you feel confident in. Affordable, stylish denim with a comfortable fit is out there. You just need to know where to look!
